Outside of philosophy, I enjoy cycling, cooking, and playing music. The unifying characteristic of all three is that they involve enjoyable focus on an activity that occasionally results in moments of flow.
I raced bikes competitively (mainly on the road but dabbling a little in track and cyclocross) from middle school until a couple of years after graduating from college. This has led to many memorable adventures, from seeing the sun rise over NYC while racing in Central Park, to being chased by dogs in the Blue Ridge Mountains, to fighting through food poisoning during a race in the Dominican Republic. These days my riding is less eventful, though no less enjoyable.
